In this blog, we will describe the ABI client road map. Our primary goal at ABI is to prepare our clients to be “Ready for Life” in a manner suitable to their own personal road map. In addition to offering complimentary consultations, we make educational tools available to all new and current participants and their families.

Stage one:

The first stage of the client road map is “get ready for treatment.” This means that we will ensure that the potential client is eligible for services. We will also determine family needs and supports required through an interview. In most instances, insurance covers ABA services for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.

Stage two:

The second stage of the client road map is to “plan for treatment.” This will encompass an assessment of the client’s skills, behaviors, and environment. We will determine what items serve as reinforcers for the client. Next, we will write an individualized treatment plan with specific goals and targets.

Stage three:

The final stage of the client road map is, “participate in treatment.” This includes scheduled direct sessions with a behavior therapist (supervised by a BCBA), in which the client will learn new skills and also learn to manage challenging behaviors through behavioral interventions. Once the client masters new skills in a discrete setting, they will be applied in natural settings such as the community and school.  Most treatment packages will also include individualized parent training and support.

The combination of these three stages makes up an individual client road map.
